Thank you to Thermofisher Scientific in Fair Lawn for welcoming the FLHS STEM Club, advised by Ms. Ryder, for a tour of their plant. Students visited the quality control lab and learned about the supply chain process.

As part of the Advanced Wood Tech at FLHS, classes students are required to do a shop or school improvement project. Senior, Brandon Cauwels was happy to help refresh the 3rd podium and the FLHS logo.

Students in Ms. Kathy Straubel's AP biology classes at FLHS are participating in the Rutgers University Waksman Student Scholars program. This program provides an opportunity for the students to conduct an authentic research project in molecular biology and bioinformatics and publish their findings. Here students are micropipeting solutions to set up their bacterial culture. Through this project students will learn skills including micropipeting, PCR, gel electrophoresis and restriction digestion in order to identify the protein being coded for by a gene. They will then analyze the DNA sequence in order to determine characteristics of the protein including structure, function and interactions. If successful they will be published on the NCBI database.

Congratulations to 7th grader Jonathan Markovich on winning this year's Thomas Jefferson Middle School Geography Bee! Impressive final round by all!

Did you know that San Francisco 49ers star running back, Christian McCaffrey's grandfather, Dave Sime, graduated from our high school, class of ‘54? Aside from being a Hall of Fame honoree at Fair Lawn High School and Duke University and an Olympic medalist, Sime was also a world-renowned eye surgeon. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, we must reschedule the Cyberbullying Parent Parent Presentation by Sgt. Rich scheduled for tomorrow night on Tuesday, February 6th at 7:00 p.m. The safety and well-being of our students is a top priority, and we believe that Sgt. Rich's insights are invaluable in educating our community about the challenges associated with cyberbullying and social media. We understand the importance of this topic and will communicate the rescheduled date and time via weekly Principal messages and Peach Jar as soon as it is confirmed. Students in our Architecture & Construction CTE program complete a blue print design project in their Architectural Design Course with Ms. Angiuli at FLHS.

In recognition of School Board Member Appreciation Month, the Fair Lawn Public Schools would like to recognize the members of our Board of Education—and provide an opportunity for our community to learn more about them. Between our nine members, they have volunteered a combined 71 years for our students!

Grade 8-11 students should speak to their school counselors about enrolling in this CTE program.

Cyberbullying: What Parents Need To Know February 6, 2024 7:00PM Memorial Middle School Auditorium

🕵️ Detective Sgt. Rich brought the serious scoop on Internet safety to Memorial students on Monday. Sgt. Rich will return to Fair Lawn for a parent presentation in the Memorial auditorium. Details about the date and time of this presentation to follow. You won't want to miss it!

5th grade scientists at Memorial had a HOOT dissecting owl pellets as they explored energy in ecosystems!

Huge shout out to one of our TJ Orchestra students for being accepted into Region 1 Orchestra! Grace Chang, who is a 7th grader and a dedicated violin player, is now considered to be one of the best violinists in North Jersey! Congratulations Grace!

FLHS Senior, Prema Maringanti, was awarded a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Certificate of Merit! Here is Prema pictured with Assemblywoman @shavondasumter, the keynote speaker at the ceremony. Way to go, Prema!

Unfortunately, due to inclement weather conditions, we must postpone this evening’s performance at TJMS. To allow adequate planning time for families, we have rescheduled for Tuesday, January 23 at 7pm.

We would like to thank the Tyszko family for their continued support and efforts to help others in memory of their son, Peter, who died on January 17, 2022 of complications from sarcoma. In the spirit of giving, they have organized what has become an annual blood drive, which will take place on Saturday, January 27, 2024.
